People Management
 
People is defined as all the individuals employed by the Unit, and others who participate in the task of serving its customers, directly or indirectly. The Unit will concern about people through activities that address the following issues:  
   
1. Planning and improving people resources is the first issue to concerned about where the Unit will:

Aligns the human resource plan with policy and strategy
Develops and uses people surveys
Ensures fairness in terms of employment
Aligns remuneration, redeployment, redundancy and other terms of employment with policy and strategy
Uses innovative work Unit strategies and methods to improve ways of working.
 
   
2. People capabilities are to be sustained and developed through the Unit’s effort when it:

Identifies, classifies and matches people's competencies with its needs
Manages recruitment and career development
Establishes and implements training plans
Reviews the effectiveness of training
Develops people through work experience
Develops team skills
Promotes continuous learning
Manages 'Invest in People' or competence-based approaches.
 



 
3. The Unit should be sure how people agree targets and continuously review performance. The Unit does so when it:

Aligns individual and team objectives with targets
Reviews and updates individual and team objectives
Appraises and helps people improve their performance
Ensures cross-functional cooperation.
 
   
4. Its another job of the management to recognize how people are involved, empowered and recognized. This could be done by addressing the following:

Encourage and support individuals and teams to participate in improvement
Encourage people's involvement through in-house conferences, ceremonies, etc.
Empower people to take action and evaluates effectiveness
Design the recognition system to sustain involvement and empowerment.
 
   
5. An effective dialogue is to be available among people in the Unit. The Unit :

Identifies communication needs
Shares information and has a dialogue with its people
Manages cross-functional communication
Evaluates and improves communication effectiveness
Structures top down, bottom up and lateral communication.
 
   
6. All people in the Unit should be cared for, and that is recognized in how the Unit:

Promotes awareness and involvement in health, safety and environmental issues
Sets the level of benefits (such as pension plan, health care, child care)
Promotes social and cultural activities
Provides facilities and services (such as flexible hours, transport).
